Saturns Return
Tolerance

Fact: The world is full of assholes.

Sadly, they are difficult to avoid. So rather than punching them in the back of the face, I have started to look for the good in them.

Sometimes you really have to dig deep. You may even need one of those subterranean drills to find it. But it is there. There is some good in everyone. For some reason when you come across the most evil of people, they have a moustache. And we all know moustaches are good. More so on males than females.

I’ve recently had to deal with a very difficult client. They are erratic and often irrational. One day they love something, and then a few days later they hate it. Their reputation within the agency is poor and people have a raft of nicknames for them. Their bizarre behaviour ultimately costs their business a lot of money. But due to their seniority, it seems to go by unnoticed.

On the flip side, this person is married. So, behind all the stuff I want to punch out of them, there must be some substance that is worth spending the rest of your life with.

Ultimately, the ability to find the good in everyone fosters tolerance. And this is something that I am shit at. But I am aware of this and am working on it. This is not to say I’m a redneck hillbilly. You won’t find a gun rack in the MX-5. But I do sometimes find myself thinking, if not saying, intolerant thoughts.

Taking the time to find the good in everyone is my way of dealing with assholes. And is my way of hopefully being less of an asshole myself.
